Holiday Blessings Campaign Has Begun!

Each year, We Care offers holiday meals and gifts to families and individuals who need an extra boost during the holidays.  Our gift-giving ministry is open to kids ages 0 - 16.  Anyone in Bangor, Bloomingdale, Breedsville, Covert, Glenn, Grand Junction, Lacota, and South Haven areas are eligible with proof of need (i.e.: financial, job loss, health problems, etc.).

We are excited to offer this program once again, but it will be different due to the pandemic.  That is why we are taking extra precautions to ensure that every donor, family, volunteer and staff member is safe.  This year, we will not be offering Adopt-a-Family, but encourage those who would like to, to donate a meal basket or/and unwrapped gifts.  Please note: Meal baskets should have only pre-made and packaged items, no home-made goods.

  • $20 buys a week of food for a family of 4 through our three foods pantries
  • $50 buys a holiday meal for a family of 4 through our Holiday Blessings Campaign Meal Distribution
  • $60 buys 3-5 gifts for one child through our Holiday Blessings Campaign Gift Distribution
  • $110 buys a meal and gifts for one child's family this Christmas

Meal Items

We Care distributes over 500 meals between Thanksgiving and Christmas to families in need. 

To receive a basket, call our office at 269-637-4342 between October 1st and no later than November 19th for Thanksgiving and December 10th for Christmas.

To donate, please e-mail Lynn at lynn@wecare-inc.org to let us know you'll be providing a complete dinner, and how many.  Some suggestions include the following items, but whatever you like to eat at the holidays is the best policy:

  • Holiday Meat or Protein: Turkey, ham, tofu (can be frozen, canned or refrigerated).
  • Side dishes, complete with each required ingredient:
    • Green bean casserole - green beans, cream of mushroom soup, milk, fried onions.
    • Mashed Potatoes - potatoes, milk, butter, salt.
    • Rolls
    • Dressing/stuffing
    • Mac and cheese (ready to serve or boxed with needed add-ins)
    • Vegetables (fresh / frozen / canned)
    • Fresh Cranberries (include bag of sugar) -or- canned cranberry sauce
    • Canned gravy or gravy packets (with needed add-ins)
  • Dessert:
    • Cookies, cake or pie
    • Cool Whip or Whipped Cream
    • Candy
  • OPTIONAL: Place all items in a re-useable container, such as a Rubbermaid tote, laundry basket or crate.

NOTE: Due to the Corona Virus, we ask that you not include any hand or home made items.  Please use only store bought, prepacked items.  Thank you for your understanding.
