What do you remember about Elementary School? Was it the rabbit that your teacher had for your class pet? Or was it not having the right clothes or shoes, and therefore not fitting in? Each year, We Care coordinates an effort to provide basic necessities for all children entering Elementary school. Located at and sponsored by the First Assembly of God Church in South Haven and the Church of Christ in Bangor, this ministry needs your help! 85 at-risk children between the ages of 4 - 7 will receive back packs, school supplies (including large lined paper, pencils, large boxes of crayons, glue, safety scissors, socks, underwear, a nice school-appropriate outfit and $15.00 gift certificate to buy shoes. None of this can be accomplished without donations from you. We as a community want to ensure that our kids have fond memories of their first day(s) of school. Will you help? Call either We Care office for more information and donation sites.
Do you have a heart for children and families, and want to make a difference in their lives? Consider coordinating a Baby Pantry in Bangor at your church. We Care will provide all the tools and training for you to be able to get this started in your church. Please call the Bangor We Care office at 427-5981.
Many of the families coming to the We Care Pantries to pick up food, personal care supplies, etc to not speak English. Likewise, most of the pantry volunteers do not know Spanish well enough to communicate with the individuals coming in. If you or someone you know would be willing to give just 2 hours, one day a week for about 8 weeks (June - July) to help out at any of our area pantries, you will not only be giving help to someone in need but also hope to those who have no where else to go. Please join in this vital work in our community. Call the We Care office today about serving in any of our pantries in Covert, Bangor or South Haven. 637-4342.
