Volunteer Opportunities
There are many, many opportunities to volunteer within the We Care network. With the state of our economy and the number of families requesting help increasing annually, our ecumenical ministry continues to grow. Below you will find the volunteer postisions that we need to fill as son as possible. For more listings or if interested in sharing your time by volunteering in any way, please contact a staff member at one of our We care offices. We'll be happy to hear from you!
2012 FESTIVAL OF TREES
Do you enjoy the Holiday Season? Would you like to be part of the Festival of Trees fundraiser event? We are looking for people that would be willing to put together baskets to be auctioned off during our annual event. Baskets must be valued at $50.00 or higher and beautifully wrapped. If making a basket isn't your cup of tea but you would like to donate an item to be put into our basket please go to our Website at:www.wecare-inc.org and look under our “Festival of Trees Basket” section to find a list of items that we are looking for. FALL FUN IN BANGOR
If you like ponies, pictures or popcorn….we have just the job for you! We are already beginning to prepare for our annual PPP event and could use a couple more volunteers to help organize the “happening” that takes place early in October. Interested? Call Meg at the Bangor Office - 427-9581.
VOLUNTEERS WANTED!
Interested in joining a group of volunteers who meet once each month for 2½ hours, have a cup of coffee and help with an all-important task? This is the perfect job for you- be one of our “Newsletter Volunteers”! Help collate, fold, tape and label so that our monthly Care Line can be mailed to over 1,500 households and businesses. Please call 637-4342 and ask for Sheryl to offer your assistance!
DONORS NEEDED TO STOCK PERSONAL CARE ITEMS
Our Personal Care Pantries are in need of the following stock items: laundry soap, bleach, feminine items, hand & body soap, shampoo, razors, toothpaste & toothbrushes, toilet tissue and paper towels. If you can share an item or two, please contact the We Care office at 637-4342 for additional information. Financial contributions welcome too! Simply make your check out to We Care (with Personal Care noted in the memo slot) and send it to us at 06321 Blue Star Hwy., South Haven, MI 49090. We will pass it along to the appropriate pantry!
PHOTOGRAPHERS NEEDED
We Care is looking for a team of photographers (amateurs welcome) that would be willing to work together to take pictures throughout the year. We are hoping to start with all of our pantries and then have someone from the team available at all of our major events. Do you enjoy taking pictures and getting out to local events? If so, this is the job for you. Please contact Sheryl Postma at 637-4342 Ext. 25 or email sheryl@wecare-inc.org if you are interested. A photography meeting has been scheduled for April 25th at 11:00a.m. in the We Care Office. This will be the time to develop our plan for the year. If you are unable to attend the meeting but would still like to be a part of the team please give me a call.
SPRING CLEANING?
As always this time of year, we ask that you please think of our Furniture Ministry as you do your spring cleaning! Our storage warehouse is almost empty. We especially need beds (complete please) of all sizes, couches, living room chairs, tables and chairs and dressers. Appliances are always needed – refrigerators, stoves, washing machines and driers. (Electric appliances only.) Your gently used items can be a blessing to someone in need. Call 637-4342 for information or to help set you up a pick-up date!
URGENT NEED!! Office Volunteer Substitute Positions Available!
We need a few people who work at the front desk greeting clients and setting them up with visits to the pantries on an as-needed basis. If you aren't afraid of computers and enjoy helping people on your schedule, call the We Care Office. Responsibilities include working with individuals and families to meet their needs through pantries, ministries and other resources and organizations.
LIFE Skills Mentor
Do you remember someone who made a difference in your life? Honor them by making a difference in the life of someone else. With just a one year commitment, if you are a good, objective listener, are available on Tuesday evenings and possessing good financial skills, you can help a family today.
