Food Pantries / Ministries

We Care I.N.C. works with the following ministries to provide food items and services to people in need.

Dinner Ministries

The Open Door Dinner Ministry

    Tuesday Evenings
    The We Care Transportation Ministry and Senior Services help provide rides.
Phoenix Street Dinner
    First Congregational Church
    Thursday Evenings November - April
    6 PM
Everyone is welcome to both Dinner Ministries.  There are no eligibility requirements.
Food donations and financial contributions are always welcome.

You can make a contribution to any of the pantries or ministries listed above.  Most commonly needed are:

  • High protein items such as peanut butter, canned meats, beans, etc.
  • Canned soups
  • Complete Meals, ie: Spaghetti Noodles and Sauce, Macaroni and Cheese, etc.
  • Non-perishables such as canned fruits or vegitables, rices, beans, pasta, shelf-stable milk, etc.
  • Financial donations (to the We Care office)

Contributions can also be made through the Meijer Simply Give Program.  Stop into our local South Haven Meijer and look for the Simply Give displays.  When We Care I.N.C. is listed, your $10.00 or greater donation is matched dollar for dollar by Meijer.  Also look for special times when your donation match is doubled!

We Care Food Statistics:

  1. It takes approximately 44 volunteers working an estimated 70 hours a week to provide food assistance through the We Care ministry.
  2. This translates into over $2,120 worth of time/week if using the nationally publicized figure of $20.05 representing one hour of volunteer time.
  3. During 2012, there were 4,100 families who requested food… That is 13,500 individuals who were served.
  4. All families needing help must call the We Care office to obtain a referral to the pantries
  5. Approximately 50 churches and civic groups take turns collecting grocery donations on a monthly basis.
  6. Families in our area could not get the help they need without these organizations and businesses.  
  7. To make a donation, please call the We Care office or take your donation to the pantry of your choice.
