Supporting Churches
Area churches are the foundation of We Care I.N.C. In 1981, five local churches came together to better meet the needs of those in the community. Thirty years later, We Care now has 39 partner churches. Some churches house pantries, others give financially and others have collections for physical goods. All churches publish the needs and opportunities that come through the We Care office, and we now have over 850 volunteers.
LOOK AROUND AT OUR CHURCHES DURING MAY!
Spring has sprung and if you look at local church buildings while enjoying a “Sunday Drive” around town, you’ll notice a particularly colorful (turquoise) flag planted in our Covenant Partner churches’ gardens.
The flags have been printed with our logo and it is our way of thanking those churches for actively supporting We Care and all of its ministries. Special thanks go out to our Participating Partner churches as well. Thanks
for another year of active outreach!
"SHINING LIGHTSHINING LIGHT!
This month, the light is shinning on The First Congregational Church!
The First Congregational Church U.C.C., South Haven, prides themselves on being a community-minded congregation. They are intricately involved with many area organizations, including coordinating the largest We Care Food Pantry, Phoenix Street Suppers, Holiday Meal Baskets and Fresh Produce Distribution. Beyond the We Care ministries, they also are involved in Cub Scouts, Boy and Girl Scouts, Samaritan Center, Garden Club, Habitat for Humanity Al Van, and the AAUW. They also conduct worship at Country Side Nursing Home every 4th Sunday. The “sweetest” part is the over 600 blueberry pies (not to mention the muffins and turnovers) they bake at the Vineyard Restaurant kitchen every year to sell at the Blueberry Festival. Pastor Jeffrey Dick has been the pastor there for going on 19 years. Keep up the great ministry, FCC!
